Swim Waves

I went to the Moose forum to look up some things and they had the start times for the Waves listed.

Mooseman Start Waves

The good news is that SJV, MC & CC are all starting together. The bad news is it appears a lot of people will potentially pass us. We just have to be eight minutes faster than the relay teams, to look good of course.

Green hat to match my new green trimmed wet suit. Same for Shawn.

I'll let you guys draft off of me :-)

Just hit my foot when you want to lead. The green trim will help me know that it's you going by.

So the next wave is 4 minutes behind us in Lt Blue caps. If you guys can beat on any of them that happen to catch up, it would be appreciated.

Also so our Age Group also is the Clydesdale Start. Do you suppose there is a reason for that?

Yes, I'm sure we will look stunning in our matching green caps.

Matt, are you suggesting perhaps that most of the Clydesdales are in this age group anyway? I was going to suggest that I am in both groups, so I'm glad I only have to start once.

All the Clydesdales over 40 have bad knees and can't run anymore (except those using the Pose technique), and the young guys haven't gotten old and chubby yet. I see the logic of putting the Clyes early, so they don't hold up the race at the end, waiting for them to finish, but I would think that 35-39 would be a pretty fast group on average. It's an interesting science.

I agree with Craig that we are going to be passed by many people. We clearly aren't going to catch the elites, and probably not most of the younger guys, but maybe there will be a few guys like us in that wave. Hmm...maybe I will bike slowly at the beginning in the hopes that I can pass someone later on. The more people I let pass me, the better chance I have of passing someone. Yeah, so if you see me biking very slowly, just remember, it's a strategy!

By beat the guys in Lt. Blue you mean actually "beat" as into pulp. Maybe beating is a bad technique. Just pull them under water as they pass me long enough to make them oxygen deficient. Shawn may be strong enough to start with like six ropes tied to his feet with cinder blocks on the other side and as the people go to pass him attach the rope to them. Blub, Blub, Blub. I may not be fast, but I can be strong in the water. Full Contact Triathloning.

I can install 8 pumps on the bike and fenders on my wheels. The pump obviously will be used for the "Breaking Away" technique of disposing of people passing me. The fenders will be for rubbing. It ain't racing unless your rubbing (NASCAR).

Swimming does involve lots of arm flailing, so who will notice if we swing a little wide sometimes? If I do the reverse butterfly, I can keep clear a swath about 7 feet wide behind the green caps.

As for pumps, I have always been fond of that moment in Breaking Away, but I was thinking I should use a C02 pump in the swim to fill my suit with air so I rise up out of the water.

I guess you can't use that Italian spoke-bending technique with the solid wheels, but they must have spokes in the front, right? I only have one pump, so I'm gonna use it on that guy with 8 pumps when he tries to pass me.

"reverse butterfly"
So you will be able to see them as they are closing in. Just position yourself so you can splash a wave of water at them as soon as they come up to breathe. By the 3rd time they will be drowning and will give up.
If I tried this I'd be in fear of being pummeled at the end of the swim. They will likely want to beat on you but once they see you out of the water, will likely think better of it and move along.
