Well, The NorthEast Olympic is at a good time of the year for me, just a little before school starts, and the Make-a-Wish looks nice, though it will be interfering with my semester a little. I can't see myself doing any of these others this year. So far, I am finding that even the Olympic distance is pushing my luck with the training. An hour a day is a precious commodity. That is about 1/16th of my life. And that's not counting getting ready and cleaning up afterwards, which make it more like 1/8th of my life. That is a big commitment. In order to run 13 miles, I would have to spend a lot of time running. I have a basement to remodel, studies to run, books to write, a kid to instruct, and much more. I really like what this project has done for my health and motivation to be fit (not to mention keeping in touch with friends), but I am having trouble justifying more time in the saddle. I think if I do Olympic tris for another year, I might be in better shape to move up to the Half, but my weight loss and aerobic improvements have been very gradual. Seeing as how running is still my least favorite (and hopefully weakest) part, I don't think I want to do any running-only events either, so I guess for this year, I am still sticking with the three on the plate right now (Mooseman, Morgantown, Tango), and maybe I could add one of those two at the end of summer if the schedule permits.

Of course Bermuda would be pretty sweet in November.

I may look at one of these in the fall, but I know it won't be the Jerseyman Half. The run up to the Moose has let me know I am not in a position nor am I designed to do something of this distance. The fatigue, time, and aching muscles are showing me this.

Sprint or Olympic is where I will live. Maybe some 5k or an occasional 10K run. I can cheer if needed for those able to do more.

Extensive list. It would keep you busy.

I have to pick and choose from that list. I certainly don't intend to do all of them. It is nice to race with friends, so I put this out there for discussion.

As for Half Iron and Marathon, I need to get my running back before those are even close to being a reality. My 18 week Marathon Training Schedule is supposed to start this Saturday. We will see.

So the PSU Tri is July 6th. We would be driving across PA that day anyhow. I'll gauge my recovery from Mooseman, to see if a week after Morgantown I could handle the PSU Tri. Also, I haven't looked at the 20 yr reunion event schedule too closely. I'll look into this more closely after Mooseman.

I'd have to come back from the NH Vacation a bit early to do Anthracite. So it will depend on how the visitor schedule happens at the farm.

There is a Party the day before the NorthEast Race that I have to go to near Philly. I'm really considering it though.

Plenty to think about.

Do not forget, Dr. Roberts invited us to do the July 4 Jamestown/Lakeview/Somewhere in NY state 10k if we are available. Just more food for thought, because that would be two days before Happy Valley. Choose wisely Grass Hopper.

How is your running condition? I was pumped about how well you were running, now I am afraid you will be average like me :), or :<

I finally ran 3 miles on Monday. It seemed to go well. I didn't feel as if I was damaging myself for the first time in over 3 weeks.

I was going to go running again last night but it was raining and I ended up calling Jason. I hadn't heard from him in a long while and it was a good time to catch up. I wouldn't be surprised if he posts something soon.

It was probably good to give my legs a day off. I could feel them during the morning swim.

I plan to run a bit before swim class tonight. Which will probably cause me issues for my swim, but right now I've gotta get some run miles back on.
So I can't even guess where I am with my running. I've accepted that I've done the best I could do. As long as I beat you by, what was it 5 minutes? I'll have succeeded in giving you proper motivation for the Morgantown race :-)

Thanks for the reminder about the Lakewood Firecracker 10K. Perhaps we can take Jim out drinking the night before and try to handicap him a bit.
At the very least he should get a good show as you and I fight it out to the finish line.

It will be like the movies where we are tossing back shots, but ours are going over our shoulders and Jim is drinking every one.

Then we will tell him we will wake him up in the morning, but we just honk the horns loud as we drive by his house. He makes it to the race but it has already started and we beat him by 2 seconds because we had a fifteen minute head start. It sounds like a bad made for TV movie, because he gets revenge on us by learning how to swim and beats us at the SSS in the fall.

If you get back in form I don't know if we will be fighting much out unless I use the same drinking trick on you.

Speaking of Jason, send me a separate email with his phone number. I need to get in touch with him.

I'm not duking it out with anybody in a 10K, but I hope to give you both a run for your money on the bike at the Mooseman. Maybe I'll spike the pasta on Friday night.
