I'm Lonely

I understand Matt not doing much training, but Shawn I'm looking pretty lonely on the spreadsheet. I know your are going to come out with some end of the semester Blah, Blah, Blah. Six weeks Buddy. The mistress of Newfoundland Lake is calling you like the sirens at United Refinery during a full tar pit fire. SHAWN, SHAAAAWN, SHAAAAAAAWN cough, hack, gag, gag (Phelm sounds). She is not as young as she use to be and it is hard for her to yell loud enough for you to hear her in State College.

VIZZINI: (shrieking)Faster!
FEZZIKI: thought I was going faster.
VIZZINI: You were supposed to be this colossus. You were this great, legendary thing. And yet he gains.
FEZZIK: Well, I'm carrying three people. And he's got only himself.
VIZZINI: (cutting through)-- I do not accept excuses.
(shaking his head) I'm just going to have to find myself a new giant, that's all.
FEZZIK: (hurt) Don't say that, Vizzini. Please.

This is how it will feel during the Triathlon with those scrawny athletes bolting around us! On the lighter side:

Fezzik: Inigo?
Inigo Montoya: What?
Fezzik: I hope we win.

Yes, my friend. It is a sad state of affairs right now. It is true I have not been running. This is literally my last week of work and classes, so things are looking up, but I am somewhat concerned that my first week or so of workouts are going to be spent just trying to get back into some kind of rhythm and shape. Then I have to taper at the end, so I really only have about four weeks. Scary. I have done some push-ups and dumbbell stuff as I run back and forth through the house, but nothing prolonged or aerobic. I'm feeling pretty good though. I think I'll come through alright. Just hold on for a few more days and your loneliness will be over. Actually, I should be the one complaining because I am going to be lonely trying to catch up to everyone during the race. Back there all by myself. Alone. Gasping for breath. "Water?"...stumble..."Water!"... flail wildly..."Doesn't anybody care?" Thump.

I got stuck at work late last night. Got home at about 8PM. Missed my chiro appointment and my swim.
I'm at our NJ office today. Planning on going to the chiro soon. Then maybe I'll get a short run in and a swim. The run is a must. Gotta get everything warmed up and stretched out.
I'll be back to my normal workout schedule soon.

By the way, Genine laughed out loud when she saw your Princess Bride post.
She has been working out. Getting bike time is still tough but she isn't going to have trouble with the Mooseman bike. I kind of wish she would ride a road bike, but she's going to be on the brakes on every down hill anyhow.

As Shawn and I already know it was the greatest movie ever made. Of course until about three years ago I did not realize, until I received it for Christmas, it was potentially the greatest book ever written, abridged version.

I have also passed my love for it onto my kids. A guy at church does a great impression of the priest performing the marriage ceremony, and another couple said that they did set of double dates where they read the book out loud.

The real joy of a road bike is the up hills. But, you probably are only as fast as what you are comfortable with.

So, Shawn is the only one we are worried about?:)

Why are we worried about me again? I hope it isn't the bike you're talking about. That's the least of my worries. I am going to be riding like a fiend over the next several weeks. Have you guys ever seen that commercial with the guy with the gigantic thighs going to work at the center of the Earth, where he keeps it spinning by pedaling? That's what I'm gonna be like. I may not pedal too quickly, but I will keep the Earth spinning.

I am not worried about you until you put on the running shoes. I figure swim you can fake it. Bike, the horse power is there plus the rest on the down hills. But, the run is just non stop pain, agony, and it feels lonely when the tribes start passing you.

I was just saying it was good to hear Genine is confident about the bike.

You're right. Maybe I shouldn't go too fast on the swim and bike so I don't have to have all those people passing me. Yeah, that's what I'm gonna do. They'll never pass me!

I'll just start at the back and stay there.

The swim seems to be a full contact event. If you would apply those rules to the run, I'd imagine you could stop quite a few people from passing you.
