Swamps of Jersey, Here I Come!
I have officially signed up for the Jerseyman, so it looks like I will be heading out there Friday evening. I think for the race I need to get an orange shirt that says "Caution: Slow Moving Vehicle." I signed up as a Clyde, so my new age group doesn't really matter. I know they are trying to offer an additional category, but I am still not happy that I might have to go up against a guy who is 20 years younger than me and 70 pounds lighter. Can anyone remind me why I do this sport?

Wahoo!! I think Saturday will prove to be a telling day for the both of us! I am confident that you underestimate the skills you aquired from last season. You are going to be fine. You will rock the bike for sure! My fingers are crossed for warm temps, no rain and no mental freak outs in the water.
Just promise me that if you see me lying on the ground during the run due to the stabbing pain in my right hip, you will pick me up and carry me with you across the finish line! Ha!
Then we go to Gronsky's Milk House for ice cream!! :-P
No problem. It would be an honor to carry you to the finish. This assumes that you will be ahead of me in the run, though...
I'm not sure about the waves here, but you might start after me. Assuming I don't drown, I hope to still be ahead when I get on the bike, although you have been practicing swimming essentially an infinite amount more than me (since I have had none), so I'm going to say it will all depend on the hills. If there are enough hills, you might pass me on the bike. I don't think it will be hard to do. If not, then you will have to pass me on the run before the stabbing pain starts. If you scream loudly enough from behind, and I can turn around and see you, then I will come back and scrape you off the pavement and bring you home. Either way, it will be a beautiful human interest story.

You're not coming to the swamp part! We will have a fun time! You start in the wave 5 mins ahead of Genine and I, so do your best to stay ahead as long as you can!!!! You will have a target on your back!
Target on Shawn's back. That has a whole bunch of jokes about the availability of such a target . . .

Yeah, that's like putting a target on a crippled elephant. All Maija's gonna see is my feet in the swim.
I am so screwed for this race, but I am hoping it will clarify my tasks for the rest of the summer. I'm already feeling the weight of that half-iron starting to land on me. I really need to get into the thick of things. I'm doing more homework tonight, but I swear it's almost done!
