So these guys are recommending intervals once a week. I think I am going to start doing that. I have to figure out how my treadmill does the learning mode. Haven't worked on that yet.
Intervals are a great addition. There's a saying, ... Train fast to race fast! I agree with that with the biggest caution being the more intervals per week, the bigger the risk of injury.
As to the "different" HR model, this one is called the Karvonen method and, in general, elicits a higher heart rate than the traditional 220-age * .6 to .85 or .9.
