Craig, I have to link you with this article by our guru Mark Allen. It is about cadance, which we had a very brief discussion about at the Tango. I'll let Mark do the talking. This is on XTri, which is linked on the right side of this page, but I wasn't sure if you ever checked it out. I think it is good advice.

I have tried to keep my cadence up during my workouts since the tango. It causes me on flats to go into my 13T gear instead of the 12T in the back.
During the race I was in my 12T most of the time, but went down to 13T when struggling or going up slight uphills.
