Matt and Genine,

Good job at the Timberman! I feel like I'm ready for the Chicago Tri but I'm just a little unsure as to my taper. I never know if I'm doing it right or not. Matt, I wanted to ask you if you ride a tri specific bike and if so are you happy with it? I'm thinking about getting one and I just wanted to know if it makes that much of a difference. Thanks.

Taper I think must be different for everyone. I didn't do anything the 2 days before Timberman. I think some people would freak out if they did that. It seems to work for me.

I don't have a Tri Bike. I'm also considering making this purchase. I've talked to some of my friends about the difference between road and tri bikes. The comments that seemed to make sense to me were...

The one guy does Full Iron. He said at the longer distance the comfort factor of a tri bike was tremendous.

Someone else mentioned that the style of bike course you typically race matters. If you race flat courses it's going to be worth your money even at the shorter distances.

I seem to race hilly courses and I seem to be leaning towards Olympic Distance as my "prefered" distance. So you would think I shouldn't bother with a Tri Bike, but if I come across the right deal I don't think I could resist.
bikeline.com check out their closeouts section to see what you can get pricewise in older models.

If you have any good sites for deals. Please send them along.

Good Luck in Chicago!!!
