Thanks, Chris! How did the race in Pittsburgh go for you & Jim this weekend?

Welcome Chris. It's always good to have a little more variety here.

Thanks for the well-wishes. I'll need 'em.

I'll answer for Chris as he wouldn't be able to answer honestly without sounding like he was ripping on me.

He and I both successfully climbed the intermediate side of the 34 foot pinnacle. Never of us were too confident going it, but we made it.

As far as the race goes, since I've have been having troubles staying hydrated, we decided to run first while (maybe) cooler. However, I brought scales to help me out to make sure I was losing weight. The battery died Friday night at 10 and we were unable to get a replacement before the race. Well, I couldn't keep up with Chris on the very first climb. It only got worse for me. We ran for about 8 miles and collected all of the points in the run with about 1:25 of working out.

We got back to transition and I drank as much as I could, debated for a couple minutes and went out on the bikes. A kid on a tricycle could have biked faster than me. We bagged it and called it a day without getting any bike points.

I owe him. He could have tried to get more points on his own, but we had about 1:30 so he opted to hang out with me and we went and ate lunch and went home!Big bummer.

I need to get control of this. After drinking heavily (mostly water), this morning I was still down weight.

Too bad it was about 90 degrees yesterday. Even worse, too bad I can get this stuff figured out.

Thanks Chris. I'm excited to race Timberman. I've been wondering what "my distance" is. I guess I'll know if I like Half-Iron at this time next week.
Good to have you on board the blog.

Jim, sorry to hear you are still fighting with the hydration. It sounds like you should make your situation a study for one of your classes. Have your students research different strategies for you to try. :-)
