2009 Mooseman.

I just signed up for Mooseman 2009 International Distance.
Will be interesting to repeat the race to see the improvements. Although the swim was cut short this year, so it won't be a perfect comparison.
The times don't matter anyhow, as long as I beat Craig, Shawn, Esther, Armando and Maija. I'll consider the race a success.

You think you are going to beat ME! That is funny. You better quit your job...

Unless things change before then, Shawn has the ultimate advantage, insulation. I plan to walk the hairy edge between the proper amount of blubber to handle the elements and maintain speed. My new found running ability will nothing but improve. Therefore, barring a flat tire, I believe I need to be the intended target. Sorry, Matt, your new weight loss will do nothing but lower your body temp., I already know Maija & Esther are down in blue lip group. I assume Armando will get there by training for a full iron.

So, Me (1st), Shawn (2nd). The rest of you can pick up the crumbs.

OK. Just so we are straight here.
Esther this will happen after I've already raced an olympic the day before. An Olympic at which Maija will crest every hill in hopes of catching a glimpse of me and Craig will stare in wonderment at the steam rising from the water surrounding me at the swim start...
Y'all will be beaten so badly, they will pick you up with a sponge at the end of the day.

want to wager? when you lose to me you owe me rita's for the rest of the summer.

I don't think I want to know what a Rita is, but just so we are super clear, steam is only because you are losing body heat, and Maija (not that she can't defend herself) will only be looking for you because she was in a heat that started 10 minutes behind you!

I am surprised that Shawn hasn't thrown in something about the real winner is whoever burns the most calories during the race.

Here is my thought at this time...there's no way in heck I am beating anyone unless the race organizers implement the donut derby technology.

3 minutes per donut. I can knock at least an hour off my time. Still not sure if I could beat Maija, but Matt might be toast.

Craig does have something about the blubber idea. I think if I am going to do these dang cold water tris, I might have to buy a wetshirt so I don't lose function of my arms. Given the extra buoyancy and my relatively newfound ability to swim, I do feel reasonably capable of being competitive in the swim. After that, I have no chance. Unless I can successfully lose at least 30 more pounds and preferably 40, and get a new bike, it just ain't gonna happen. School is still too much of a time sink to train like I need to to beat you guys. But I like to think I'm doing okay there.

Who has kids here? That's right, the two slowest guys. Do you think there is a connection? It may not be causal, but I'm willing to bet there is a correlation.

We'll race you when you have three kids and your wife (or you) is pregnant.

I can eat donuts like nobodys business too...

Maija: "I can eat donuts like nobody's business too..."

That is true, She often blogs how she is going to eat much healthier then posts about munchkins within a week.

Which gives me an idea. I could strategically place boxes of munchkins on the course. Or perhaps even guide her to the wrong turn Genine made during our trial run.
Or I could just resort to throwing them at her if she happens to catch me on the bike.
Mooseman food fight!

"I don't think I want to know what a Rita is"

Now I'm not sure I'll be able to drive past one of these stores without laughing or asking Genine if she wants a Rita. ;-)
