"Vitamin I" AKA Ibuprofen

Just a little reminder of why Vitamin I, should be ICE and not Ibuprofen.

Check out the article from NY Times here.

As you know I'm not a huge fan of the health articles from newspapers. They are often quite flimsy in terms of backing up their claim or even reaching a conclusion at all. It does at least bring up something to think about. Then we can ask Dr Jim for his 2 cents ;-)

thanks for the article. I figure that I am sore because I beat myself up and that taking any pills isn't really going to do much, other than taking Vicodin!

interesting. The researcher they cited is very well known. I'd wonder things that were not in the ny times article; like how did they control for how hard the person(s) ran? If i took the vitamin i, would I race at the same intensity as if I didn't take it? Or would I take more chances since I knew the drug was in the system and may help prevent pain/soreness. Ultimately, it is one study and something to consider.

In an unrelated note, a new study from europe indicated that about 20% of people that run did not improve vO2. Still, if that was true, not a reason to quit running or to not start. Of course there are too many other potential benefits other than vo2

I guess I gave a little more than 2 cents.
