More Graphs from the bike

Each Gear 1 Minute:

This is the 39 front ring. Stepping through the gears holding a cadence of about 77.

This is 39 on the front ring stepping through gears, holding about 85 for a cadence

53 on the front stepping through the gears, 70 for a cadence. It falls off at the end.

I did this because I wanted to see if the power was actually tracking properly.

Looks like your were showing a little wear at the end of the third cycle, but very impressive and very interesting information.

How long do you think you could hold the 53X12, I assume you that is your big boy?

Wow. I didn't look at that very closely once I posted it.
The pictures didn't drop in the right places.
This edit might change your opinion of me.

Now that the graphs are in the right place. 1 & 3 were swapped.

You can see that at 53/14 it's all I had. 20.5mph. Shifting higher dropped my cadence and when I got to 53/12 it dropped my speed as well.

Looking at all 3 graphs, I seems to me I'd do better on the 39/15-13 holding the higher cadence of 85.

I'll definitely be working at trying to have even faster cadences. "spinups".

I've got a ton to learn regarding my biking. Just trying to get the leg strength for now.

I already think highly of you, I was just pointing out in the big boy your cadence slowed which you also realize.

I see what you mean about the 39/15-13. But could you also not argue I believe the spot you were in the 53/14 was your highest power output. Maybe Jim has a better analysis, but I believe on a flat going all out you would want the blue (speed) line to be as close to the Green (power) line as possible. Your speeds are similar but it appears you were producing more watts in the 53 Graph peek.

Or maybe your were more efficient in the 39 graph so this is why the lines are not as close and you were using about 10 less watts. I guess you would have to determine what each incremental mph would cost you in watts and ride to conserve this. I am now not sure what I am seeing but it all looks very cool.

Well I'm digging my way through the Book "Training With Power".
Hopefully I'll be able to post with more helpful commentary in the future.
My first step will be to do some baseline rides to get my Zones. I figure I'll do this after I get back from Florida.
The funny part is one part of the test is to ride for 5 minutes at 20mph. I'm not sure that's possible... Ah well stuff like this is relative anyhow and you need to re-test every 4-6 weeks if you are really working on it and improving.
The good news is, when you are first starting out you typically improve very quickly.
