Too much information perhaps

I put my bike on the trainer tonight. After 25 minutes "the area" was numb.
I don't have this problem when I'm riding elsewhere. Probably because I'm able to ride out of saddle for awhile. This is difficult to do on a fixed trainer.
I need to get in with one of these group rides at the bike shops, just so I can try out different seats.

Seat Choices/ Adjustments

Most of what these articles say makes a lot of sense. I know that when I put my seat in the other day it was about an inch higher than usual and the next day, my area was mighty sore from rocking side to side more than usual. I'm also considering converting from the gel seat I've been using to a firmer one. The seat I have now definitely is getting squished into an unhealthy position. The noseless seat is probably best for your anatomy, but you sacrifice stability in a big way. Do any of you have some recommendations for a great seat? The E3 seat by Performance looks good, but I haven't looked too hard for a seat in about 5 years. I'm sure it is different for everyone's anatomy, but the consensus seems to be wider is better as long as it doesn't interfere with your pedaling. I have to stop by the bike shop this weekend to get Ian a new helmet anyway, so maybe I'll check out some of their seat options while I'm there.

I spoke with the guy that races uphill today. I mentioned my problem using the bike on the trainer. He warned me that there probably isn't a seat out there that will fix that problem while on a trainer. You just don't move around and adjust as much as a normal ride. He suggested to take breaks off the trainer.
My normal Park ride has become difficult now that school is in session. The parking lot loop is very busy and has bad sight lines when the lot is full. I almost ran into a car taking a turn the other week.
The Running/biking path is busy with people Sitting as spectators. That's kind of annoying even when running. Biking is just not possible. That's why I decided to spin on the trainer.
