What's up for Tango 2009?

Shawn is planning to do the Full Tango with his brother Bart as far as I know.

Soooooo. Craig, Jim, Casey??? What are we thinking for this year? I'm asking because I'm trying to decide about July triathlons. Kind of a pain that so many of these races sell out so far in advance.

Let's start talking about this and figure out who wants to be in and how much people are wanting to do. I have a feeling we could probably field a couple relay teams. As Todd, Jerry, Chris Johnson and Shawn's friend Greg have expressed interest in the past.

I'm up for doing any/all of the Tango except for the Bike. That's because I don't have a Mountain Bike or Cyclocross bike that fits me. I'd also be willing to do a single event and hang out and have fun the rest of the day. :-)

That's correct. Shawn and Bart are still planning to do the Tango as a team. We are planning on losing, but we are also planning on finishing, and no matter how slow we go, few people will be able to say much about it. Only a few people in the world will be faster than us in this race, and none of them will come anywhere near our enormity.

At this time, I am thinking we might be those guys paddling down the river in the dark, but I am still hopeful that things will improve before the race.

I'm gonna go with the idea that this is a hobby and I only give it the time I have, which isn't much.

Hey, I am willing to only the bike, even though the orienteering is always fun. Are we still thinking super team or are we down to let's be faster than last year.

What about Marty in the canoe? Shawn said he was an animal, never stopped paddling, well, one time he stopped, but that was to bail out the canoe.

Craig am I correct in thinking you don't want to repeat the 2 person relay?

As for "Super Team", I feel that our approach each year has been to be competitive as possible. Even when we start out saying "we aren't going to be competitive".

That being said. I would like to hear some "Super Team" suggestions.

I suggest getting some lonely high school kid from the CC team that couldn't get a team together to do the first run, CSquared does the bike, MC swims, C and Marty do the orienteering, Jim does the second run at a full sprint, and Marty and anybody do the canoe, which will be a nice long thin racing canoe handmade by a local Iroquoian boat-builder.

That's assuming the girls are doing their own thing. If they are available, then it's all different.

We are all old enough to have 20-year-old kids. How come nobody has a runner?

KB2 is all about making some more $$ this year. Sorry boys! Unless of course you want to wear a wig & some culottes to paddle the canoe of the winning female relay team across the finish line. :-)

I am interested in a couple of options here: 1. Chris and I have talked a bout a possible 2 person relay, but I would not rule out a super team. I haven't done anything over 1 to 1.5 hours since last year's marathon fiasco. On a good note, I ran a 5:56 mile indoors at the Y ( 41 turns per mile). It felt great to fly like that again. The mile was sandwiched between a couple low 7's, so the cardio stuff is feeling better.

Still not interested in swimming very far, nor skiing with old skis!!

The two person relay is definitely a good challenge.
I didn't find it quite as fun as the multi person relay because of the lack of hanging out and visiting with everyone a bit more. But there is always time to socialize later.

So Jim, what are you ideas for a "Super team"? Feel free to put me on any event. I'm racing often enough I'm ok with anything. I'll just add in NJ State or Morgantown triathlon if the Tango is going to be an easy day for me.
