Maija is working on putting together a super women's team for the Tango this year. KB2 is looking to improve. Here's a link to her post.
While I was in Warren, Craig and I spoke about our plans. Both of us have a big triathlon just a couple weeks after the Tango. I'll be doing my first Half Iron at Timberman and he will be doing the Spirit of Morgantown. So he thought maybe we need to work on recruiting for the super men's team.
Craig, Matt, Shawn, Jim, Marty, Chris.... Casey (I know you are out there, and you saw the pictures of your brother I posted from last summer.... you are itchin...)
Just wondering if we put a team of 6 of us together. What do you think the best lineup would be?

Here's my 2 cents. I mentioned this previously, but I'll say it again. Any super team can't have me on it unless I change many, many things in the next 8 months. I am going to try to change some things, but I have no idea how these efforts are going to work out. Based on everything I know from last year, the only thing I could do in this scenario would be swim and/or canoe. I don't think I am super at either of these things, but I could hold my own in both. If I get in the kind of shape I would like to see, I still wouldn't be good at anything except those two things. I might be really good at those two things if I get into that kind of shape, but the academics still come first, I'm sorry to say.
But I have a solution! I don't join this team. My brother has been telling me that he is going to be ready for this event this year, so we could be the largest Two-Person Complete Tango Team in history, and maybe the oldest too, but I think we could finish in a reasonable time. Having that as my goal might actually get me into the kind of shape I should be in to do the Timberman Half with Matt. I am not concerned at all about doing the races in succession. If I can do one of them, I can do them both. The joys of the kettlebells, my friends.
Maybe I should sign up for the T-man since that's filling up. If that's the only one I do this summer, I might have enough time to get ready. I should probably do one earlier to remind myself how to swim, though. And I could still use a nice bike. Something made in this century out of something other than steel.
OK...I admit it. I am still out here. And I definitely like the idea of participating again.
I say to tentatively count me as part of the team. However, I am not sure I will be able to do the running this time. Time will tell once I start getting myself back into it. The knee (as usual) will be the big unknown for me.
I have a lot of work to do, and a long way to go. I am seriously out of shape!
"Any super team can't have me on it"
Kind of like Groucho Marx "I would not join any club that would have someone like me for a member."
I feel the same way about not being super but it's still fun trying.
"However, I am not sure I will be able to do the running this time."
So what events look interesting to you Casey?
I guess I should qualify the statement. I do not think I will be able to do the 13 miler.
I do not own a bike and swimming is out of the question. I would be open for the short run, the orienteering, and/or the canoeing.
